Company Profile

High design by Tammy Lyon

When graphic designer Tammy Lyon created the spectacular yellow and silver origami invitations to her wedding six years ago, she learned two things.

Her friends and other brides-to-be went crazy for the original artwork and design, and there had to be an easier way of making an impression than hand-folding 80 intricate invitations into paper figurines.

After eight years as a senior designer at several high-tech software companies - where she designed everything from brochures and annual reports to websites and trade show displays - Tammy also began making custom wedding invitations on a freelance basis.

As demand for her services grew, she saw that many brides wanted to have a hand in making their own invitations or, at the very least, to add their personal touch to the overall look.

The current do-it-yourself (DIY) wedding invitations available at most big-box stationery stores seemed limited to traditional double-hearts and scrolls that according to Tammy are “beyond boring.” She saw a creative niche for her skills.

At the same time, Tammy had become art director for Canada’s newest bridal magazine and website, aislewalk. Over the last three years working closely with aislewalk editorial staff, she has remained in tune with and on top of today’s wedding trends, patterns, colors and styles.

Uniquity Invitations fills DIY niche

Equipped with both inspiration and design expertise, Tammy began working on a line of elegant, modern and customizable DIY wedding invitation design templates.

Her elegant designs range from the starfish-themed “Haley” design, popular for destination weddings, to the glamorous “Grace” chandelier design, perfect for a vintage or Hollywood style wedding.

The next challenge was to find an electronic file system that would allow anyone to open and easily personalize the invitation templates. One of her trade secrets is the changeable file format she uses to make Uniquity Invitations easy to download and customize. It allows bridal couples to:

  • Access attractive, high design, upscale DIY wedding invitations
that don’t look homemade, “crafty” or low cost
  • Choose from among many creative and versatile design illustrations
and templates in a variety of styles from ultra-modern to classic chic
  • Fill in personalized information and details using time-saving pre-set
    margins and tabs
  • Customize fonts and font colours within the design templates
  • Create invitations on any standard laser or inkjet colour printer
  • Print on any style of creative paper or vellum in standard
    81/2 x 11 inch sheets
  • Cut cleanly on dotted cutlines using simply an exacto knife or papercutter
  • Use standard size envelopes for mailing
  • Impress their guests by further personalizing their wedding
invitations using ribbons, rhinestones, and other inspiration
    and ideas provided here.
